DIY Faucet Repair: Step-by-Step Guide

Single-Lever Faucet

Cause of Leak — Worn Cartridge

  1. Shut off the water
  2. Remove the decorative cap from the lever
  3. Unscrew the bolt under the cap
  4. Remove the lever and decorative nut
  5. Unscrew the retaining nut
  6. Remove the old cartridge
  7. Install the new cartridge (pay attention to diameter — 35mm or 40mm)
  8. Reassemble in reverse order

Two-Handle Faucet

Cause — Worn Gasket

  1. Shut off the water
  2. Remove the decorative cap
  3. Unscrew the bolt and remove the handle
  4. Unscrew the valve stem
  5. Replace the rubber gasket
  6. Reassemble
