Pipe Burst: First Steps
A pipe burst is a stressful situation, but the right actions in the first minutes will help minimize damage.
Step 1: Shut Off the Water
Immediately close the main shut-off valve. It's usually located near the riser in the bathroom or toilet.
Step 2: Cut the Power
If water may reach electrical wiring — turn off the circuit breakers in the panel.
Step 3: Collect the Water
Place buckets, basins, and any containers under the leak.
Step 4: Warn the Neighbors
If you live in an apartment building — immediately notify the neighbors below.
Step 5: Document the Damage
Take photos and videos of all damage — this will be needed for insurance and the management company.
Step 6: Call a Plumber
Call a professional plumber. Our specialists will arrive within 30-60 minutes and fix the emergency.
Temporary Solutions
- Rubber clamp: wrap the burst area with a piece of rubber and tighten with wire
- Cold weld: special compound for temporary sealing
- Epoxy bandage: for small cracks

Do not attempt to weld or solder pipes under pressure yourself. This is dangerous and may cause greater damage.
