Safe Thawing Methods
1. Hair dryer — aim warm air from faucet toward main pipe.
2. Hot towel — wrap and pour hot (not boiling) water.
3. Heating cable — wrap self-regulating cable around pipe.
Prevention
- Insulate pipes in unheated areas
- Install heating cable on vulnerable sections
- In extreme cold, leave faucet slightly open
